Heemstede has Groenendaal and plenty of greenery around it, but for an indoor birthday party the choice in the village is limited. Many parents head to Haarlem instead — and end up at the same handful of places as everyone else.

From Heemstede to the Handelskade
By car you take the N208 past Haarlem and Santpoort, then on through the Velsertunnel. Allow about 25 minutes. At the end there's free parking by the entrance, so you're not hunting for a space with a full car.
By public transport it's less direct: Heemstede-Aerdenhout station is on the line to Leiden, not on the Kennemerlijn. You change at Haarlem and carry on to Beverwijk from there. With a group of children the car is usually the simplest choice.
Outside rush hour the drive is an easy one; between four and six it's often at a standstill by the tunnel. A party that starts at half past ten or at two makes for a much nicer journey.

An hour and a half of play costs €24.50 per child, including your own table, lemonade and something to nibble on. The XL version consists of two blocks of 45 minutes. The morning party on Saturday and Sunday starts at €19.50 per child.
