Throwing a kids' party from Hoofddorp
The Haarlemmermeer is flat and open. Wonderful for cycling, but an outdoor birthday gets rained off here sooner than elsewhere: there's always a wind and very little shelter.
Half an hour north, in Beverwijk, is PlayKinetix: 9 interactive game rooms where the floors and the walls play along. All indoors, so the date you set is the date that goes ahead.
From Hoofddorp to the Handelskade
You take the A9 towards Alkmaar, past Haarlem, through the Velsertunnel and straight off at Beverwijk. Outside rush hour you're here in about half an hour. Free parking by the entrance.
The Velsertunnel is the one thing to watch on this route. During maintenance, traffic is diverted via the Wijkertunnel, which costs you an extra quarter of an hour. Worth a quick check before you set off.
By train it isn't a pleasant journey: from Hoofddorp station you have to change at Haarlem onto the Kennemerlijn. With a group of children, almost everyone here goes by car or with a couple of parents doing the driving.

Prices and booking
A kids' party costs €24.50 per child for an hour and a half of play, including your own table with lemonade and something to nibble on. If you're driving half an hour, the XL version with two blocks of 45 minutes often gives the better balance. The morning party on Saturday and Sunday starts at €19.50 per child.
Cake, fries or an ice cream can be booked as extras. You hold a date with no obligation first; only once you know who's coming do you confirm for good.

With every individual ticket you play 80 instead of 60 minutes, for the same price. From Monday 12 to Thursday 15 October we're also open extra hours from 10:30.
